Brutalism

Brutalism, a severe architectural style that came out of postwar Europe, is enjoying somewhat of a Renaissance. The term Brutalism comes from “béton brut,” or raw concrete, inspired by Le Corbusier's “Unité d’Habitation.” Though the heavy style never took hold in New York, here is a look at some of the concrete masterpieces that can still be found in New York city.
